Bloaters are the fourth and ugliest stage of the infection. They are covered with layer upon layer of fungal "armor". Although they seem slow from afar they will chase after with a heightened speed if you get to close. It is inevitable to escape getting clobbered if you get too close to a bloater. Bloaters are much smarter as they will avoid the flames of a molotov. Also if you get too far away from a Bloater they will take a spore off their body and through it at you creating a very deadly burst of spores that will damage you while you are in the area. I like to hit the Bloater with a molotov to set it on fire and then use the rifle with a few extra damage upgrades to take off the Bloater's head.
