Ping pong is an olympic sport and is played in only the summer olympics. You can play with either 2 or 4 players meaning singles or doubles.Ping pong is an indoor game so you can play year round. When you start a game you normally flip a coin or have the umpire or scorer hold the ball behind there back and each player would have to choose either right or left. The winner then gets the choice to serve or not or wich side of the table they would like. now the server gets to serve the ball. The server first stands with the ball held on the open palm of the hand not carrying the racket, and tosses the ball directly upward without spin, at least 16 centimeters high. The server then strikes the ball with the raquet while the ball fall's to the table so that it touches first his then his opponents side of the table. If the ball hit's the net and does not hit the opponents table the opponent wins the point. If the ball hits the net and then still touches the opponents side the point is redon. If the service is "good", then the receiver must make a "good" return by hitting the ball back before it bounces a second time on receiver's side of the table so that the ball passes the net and touches the opponent's court, either directly or after touching the net. Then the server as well as the returner both have to rally the ball untill the rally is over. Returning the serve is one of the most difficult parts of the game, as the server's first move is often the least predictable and therefor most benificial shot due to the numerous spin and speed choices at his or her disposal.
