My favorite sport is running. It's a great sport and has a wide variety of levels, so you can run anywhere from sprints to marathons. Running is also a good sport because it can be done all year round (if it snows where you live you might need a treadmill). Also it can be started from a young age to as long as you still can move easily.
If you want to run, but don't know where to begin, I would suggest an easy, flat, 5k. 5k's are only 3.1 miles and flat ground is easiest to run on. Start training running a route that you know well that's only a mile to a mile and a half long. When starting you also do not need a bunch of fancy shmancy gadgets. Bring a friend and talk while you run or listen to music on an ipod. Then you can start running longer distances until you are were you want to be.
I like running because it's fun and I can challenge myself. My advice to any new runners is to keep trying and train hard. So maybe you could give it a try.*:)*;)*:D
