Turtles rock! I love turtles! Turtles are my favorite animal. I think their faces are adorable! Turtles have been alive since the time of the dinosaurs. My turtle is a red eared slider. Their is no way to tell an exact age of a turtle unless you count from when they are born. My turtle loves to bask in the sun. Basking means resting under a light or the sun. When I take my turtle outside she always heads for the car or the garage so she can try hiding from me. A gross fact about turtles is that they have NO saliva! Turtles don't lay eggs unless it is a girl turtle and has a husband. Turtles lay eggs up to 30 as a pet and 70 in the wild. Turtles will live for 50 years as a pet and will live for 70 years in the wild. If a turtle has long nails and a long tail it is a boy turtle.
If the turtle has short nails and a short tail it is a girl turtle.Their are over 200 kind of of turtles in the world. Certain kinds of turtles eat worms, food sticks,lettuce,fish,strawberries and much much more. All turtles except sea turtles can pull their head, arms and legs into their body. Sea turtles can't pull their body parts in like the other turtles, but sea turtles can swim VERY fast! Sea turtles eat jellyfish, fish and some times mistake trash for jellyfish too...SO DO NOT LITTER!! Sea turtles can die or get very sick if they eat trash! Snapping turtles are not very friendly so try staying a foot or more away from them.They can jump a little more than one foot!
If a snapping turtle bites you, you may die. You have to cut their head off of them to get their beak off of you. Yes! I did say beak. Turles have beaks! NO TEETH! One reason that Red-eared-sliders are named that name is because of the red splotch on their face. The red splotch is actually their ears!That's why they are called RED-EARED-slider. Turtles have a soft shell when theyre babies and start growing a hard shell once they get older. My turtle's name is Rosetta because her ears are as red as a rose. Turtles feet and arms are webbed. Sea turtles don't have webs though, they have fins and flippers.
People make ornaments out of turtle's shells and some people cook and eat turtles! :(I feel bad for the turtles because I feel like they didn't do anything to us and here we go! Off killing tons of animals and the envirement and those poor animals didn't do anything. Hawks,cats,dogs,snakes and many more are some of the predators of turtles. I care for turtles! Girl turtles range from 10-13 inches in size. Boy turtles range from 8-10 inches in size.
